Cosmetics, climate changes, and skin barrier impairment are the main factors that contribute to skin hyper-reactivity. The main attribution to the occurrence of sensitive skin is the increase in the permeability of the stratum corneum, leading to greater penetration of substances and also to water loss. Ways to control this hyper-reactivity include eliminating unnecessary ingredients, choose products with very few active principles in each product, eliminate allergens and common irritations (reduce potency if this cannot be achieved), avoid products that increase the penetration of harsh substances into the skin, and use low fragrance products.
